It’s that time of year again! The sun is out, flowers are blooming, and St. Vincent de Paul is ready to take on local charities for a good cause. With representatives of St. Vincent de Paul present, Art Van Furniture announced Thursday, April 16th, that it will once again host the Art Van Charity Challenge to support the continued efforts of local charities to alleviate poverty and hunger throughout the Detroit region. We at St. Vincent de Paul are proud to announce our continued participation in this challenge, but we can’t win without your help.
The challenge works like this: Beginning May 18th, each charity is assigned a CrownRise page to which its supporters can donate. The goal is to raise as much money as possible until June 22 and be one of the top ten charities to raise the most money. Not only does St. Vincent de Paul keep all funds donated so that we can continue our work supporting the most vulnerable throughout the Motor City, but also the top ten charities are awarded bonuses by Art Van. First place gets $75,000 all the way down to the tenth charity, which is awarded an additional $7,500.
As Detroit’s business core experiences a rebirth in economic activity and residential living, many Detroiters are still suffering. St. Vincent de Paul is proud to focus on the most vulnerable among us, by providing food, clothing and even dental care to those in need of a hand up. “This is the Motor City, this is Motown, this is the place people should talk about with respect and they haven’t been doing that, but it’s coming back, and I love, love, love it” said Art Van Elslander at the Art Van Charity Challenge announcement. Help St. Vincent De Paul climb to the top of the competition and serve the needy in Detroit with a donation to our CrowdRise page starting May 18th.
Stay tuned for more information and reminders of when the challenge begins!
