Christopher V. Stark will become the new Executive Director of The Society of St Vincent de Paul Detroit (SVdP) on September 1, 2016 the Catholic nonprofit lay organization announced today.
Stark, a longtime Kelly Services executive will take over for Bill Brazier, who is retiring.
Stark will direct the work of St Vincent de Paul, which for over 130 years has provided vital services in Southeast Michigan, including food, shelter, medical and dental care, utility assistance, disaster relief and emergency support to those in need. Additionally, SVdP operates 11 thrift stores and donation centers and serves the community through established programs including Camp Ozanam, the Dental Clinic and the Matchan Nutrition Center. SVdP assists nearly 300,000 households annually.
“Christopher Stark is a proven leader and we are blessed to have him at the helm of our organization,” said SVdP Archdiocesan Council President Therese Frye. “We are confident after a thoughtful and exhaustive search that we have hired the right person to continue the good work of St Vincent de Paul.”
In addition to his current position as Global Practice Consultant, Stark is an ordained Permanent Deacon in the Archdiocese of Detroit and currently serves in that role at St Thomas More Catholic Church in Troy.

Stark holds a B.A. in Political Science from Michigan State University. He and his wife Patti have three children, MaryGrace, Joey and Emma. Stark’s community involvement includes his current roles as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Jenna Kast Believe in Miracles Foundation and Guest House, Inc.
