Mothers & More, a national membership organization providing community and programming for moms, hosted a diaper drive. Over 4,000 diapers were donated to Society of St. Vincent de Paul pantries to help mother’s in our neighborhoods take care of their children.
Last year the 135 Oakland County chapter of Mothers & More collected more than 4800 diapers, contributing to the more than 50,000 diapers collected by chapters nationwide. This year, the goal is 60,000 diapers.
“There is no denying the need for diapers is great, with 1 in 3 U.S. families struggling to afford diapers and no help from government assistance programs to help pay for diapers,” said Michelle, Diaper Drive Coordinator for Chapter 135 Oakland County Lakes Area.
“Mothers & More members find great value in advocating to improve mothers’ lives, so this diaper drives allows us to do just that, to work together as a community to help better the lives of low-income moms, as well as call attention to a real problem affecting too many mothers,” Michelle added.
