Dear friends of St. Vincent de Paul,
With the holiday season quickly coming, I wanted to take a moment to say “thank you.” I wanted you to know how grateful I am to you for helping so much throughout the year. I greatly appreciate your support.
Because of you, we are ale to care for the hungry, the homeless, the abandoned, and other vulnerable neighbors in need in Metro Detroit.
Unfortunately, I cannot stop at thank you…
There are still so many right here in our community who are in need of our help, yours and mine. They need us, especially during the harsh winter months.
Will you give a gift to support our 2014 Christmas Fund Drive today? It will allow us to share the joy of the holiday season with a family in need.
Good people like Charles and Stacy are in dire need or our help, yours and mine…
The couple were the blessed parents of five young children. They worked hard to provide a good life for their family. When one of the children unexpectedly died, the close-knit family suffered deeply. Then, from there, things only got more difficult…
Not long after the loss of her child, Stacy had an accident that left her with a serious back injury, unable to work. Without additional wages from Stacy’s job, the family began falling into financial trouble. They fell behind on their rent, and, some months later, they received an eviction notice.
The family was hurting… financially, emotionally, physically.
They needed a friend,… someone to provide help and comfort and let them know that everything would eventually be okay.
And because of the compassionate friends like YOU, that’s exactly what they found in St. Vincent de Paul.
With you behind us, we guided this suffering family into grief counseling. Then, we helped them find an affordable house to rent through Pathway to Housing program. We helped them get their finances back on track. We even showed up on their move in day, to make sure all went smoothly.
Our Pathway to Housing program will help to make sure this family stays on track and also lets them know that they have someone here for them.
This is what YOU make possible through your support of St. Vincent de Paul. This is the fruit of YOUR generosity.
But every day, other families like Charles and Stacy come and ask, “Please, can you help us?”
With your assistance the answer will be “YES! We can help!”
With your compassionate support, we’ll do everything in our power to help other individuals and families in trouble. We’ll lift them up with food, shelter, emergency assistance, counseling and every kind of help they need.
That is the simple miracle of material help and new hope that your Christmas gift today will allow us to share with others like Charles and Stacy and their family.
“To live charitable,” Pope Francis reminds us, “means not looking out for our own interests, but carrying the burdens of the weakest and poorest among us.”
As you celebrate Christmas, I hope your heart will be filled with beauty, joy and all the blessings of the season. God bless you for caring and for taking action today!
With warmest blessings of the season,
William D. Brazier
